Initial D! Yes, the anime / manga
A style guide my team developed for Kodansha with BWO channels a bold 1990s JDM magazine aesthetic. We created ~30 bespoke graphics and 10 repeat patterns using high-impact typography and retro palettes to evoke energetic street culture. Assets were built for print, apparel, and digital with usage rules, color specs, and scale variants for consistent yet flexible application.
As a car enthusiast shaped by Initial D, it was an honor to celebrate Japanese tuner visuals — vents, rivets, motion lines, distressed halftones — while preserving Kodansha’s editorial integrity and DNA. Modular layouts and repeatable patterns ensure cohesive use across covers, posters, merch, and social. The result is a nostalgic, contemporary toolkit that supports Kodansha and BWO with clarity, versatility, and authentic enthusiast sensibility.
